Day 1: Airport – Negombo

On arrival after the immigration process and claiming your luggage, our representative along with the designated chauffeur guide will take you through to the exit and will escort you to your vehicle, where you will be transferred to Negombo.

The wide sandy beaches and the safe sea are the major attractions of Negombo, a traditional fishing town. Besides the beach, the fish market is worth visiting where busy trading of a variety of fish including prawns, crabs and seer takes place in the mornings when the fishing crafts return to the shore with their catch. The most popular fishing craft is the outrigger canoe called oruwa dug out from a huge log and is seen in large numbers in the Negombo-lagoon.

Day 2: Negombo – Sigiriya - Habarana

After breakfast at the hotel’s main restaurant check-out and leave for Sigiriya.

After an ancient prince killed his father to claim the throne, he was forced to flee to his pleasure palace and convert it into a fortress to guard against his opposition. The spectacular citadel of Sigiriya built on a giant rock rises sheer and impregnable out of the plains below. This remarkable 5th century archaeological site is made unforgettable by its dramatic setting. A moat, rampart, extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock and the frescoes of the 'Heavenly Maidens' of Sigiriya.

Note: Please note that to reach the top of Sigiriya Rock, there are nearly 1,200 stone steps up and then down. Anybody in reasonably good condition will be able to venture to the top of Sigiriya Rock and it's certainly worth the effort, however important to know these little details before embarking on this outing.

Day 3:Habarana – Hiriwadunna – Habarana

Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, you will proceed to the Senadiriyagama to immerse in a local village experience.

You can experience a real village walk through the rustic rural community of Habarana. It’s not just a walk only but an authentic encounter with the local village folk; experiencing their lifestyles, their culture, and their hospitality. By authentic we mean it’s a true village scenario, not one set up as a tourist attraction. During this village tour, you can experience some of the oldest humankind activities that include a long bull-cart ride, A journey through a lake & a visit to a farmer’s house where they will demonstrate how their lifestyle.
Return to the hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 4: Habarana – Polonnaruwa – Minneriya – Habarana

After an early breakfast, proceed to visit the ancient ruins of Polonnaruwa.

Polonnaruwa - is the 2nd capital of Sri Lanka. Built in the 11th and 12th centuries A.D, and is a world heritage site. Here you can see the ruins of the Royal Palace, the Gal Viharaya (3 splendid statues of the Buddha in upright, sedentary and recumbent postures carved out of rock). The audience hall, the lotus bath, the Polonnaruwa statue (12th century) and the Parakrama Samudra tank (lake) built by king Parakramabahu the great. There are also ruins of famous places of worship such as the Shiva temple, the Lankatileka, the Watadage, the Galpotha, the Kiri Vihare Dagoba and the remains of a former Temple of the Tooth.

Today you can also have a great experience as you can test the authentic foods, including sweets as well. In the afternoon, you will experience a jeep safari at the Minneriya National Park. Enjoy a Jeep Safari in the Minneriya National park. Its centerpiece is the large Minneriya Tank, and the park also boasts an unusually wide range of habitat types, from dry tropical forest to wetlands, grasslands and terrain previously used for slash-and-burn agriculture. For most visitors, the principal attraction here is elephants. Minneriya forms part of the elephant corridor which joins up with Kaudulla and Wasgomuwa national parks, and up to 200 of the beasts can be found here at certain times of year during their migrations between the various parks. Other mammals found in the park include sambur, spotted deer, sloth bears and leopards, and there’s also a good chance of seeing macaque and purple-faced languor monkeys. In addition, an enormous number of birds have been spotted at Minneriya, including endemic species such as the Sri Lankan hanging parrot and the crimson-fronted barbet.

Day 05: Habarana - Dambulla – Matale – Kandy

Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Dambulla,

You will visit the Dambulla Cave temple.

Dambulla Rock temple was built by king Walagambahu in the 1st century B.C. and is a UNESCO world heritage site. It is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s many cave temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceilings is the largest area of paintings found in the world. It contains over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure carved out of granite rock and spanning 14 meters.Afterwards you will proceed to Kandy.

Along the way you will visit the Matale Spice Garden and you will be able to visit a Batik center to experience the process of Batik industry in Sri Lanka. You will also have enough time to visit a Hindu temple which is called muththumariamman temple in Matale.

Day 06: Kandy

After breakfast, you will proceed on the sightseeing tour in Kandy. Royal botanical gardens of Peradeniya is 147 acres in extent; Started in 1374 as a pleasure garden of the Kings of Gampola and Kandy. There are more than 4,000 species of trees, plants and creepers. Some rare and endemic as well as flora from the tropical world are found in the gardens. Spice Garden and Orchid House are popular with tourists. There are 5 Palm Avenues beautifying the gardens, the earliest and tallest Palm Avenue (Royal Palm Avenue) was planted in 1905 and the Double Coconuts from the Seashells Island, with the largest seed of all plants in the world is one such avenue. Return to Kandy to visit the temple of the tooth relic and enjoy a brief tour of the beautiful Kandy town.Unconquered for centuries, this capital city held the Sinhalese culture and sacred Buddhist Relics safe against the unsuccessful onslaught of Dutch and Portuguese invasions, before finally falling to British political tricks at the beginning of the nineteenth century. Amongst other fascinating sights, Kandy is the home of The Temple of the Tooth Relic, one of the most sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world.

Witness the traditional cultural dance show starting in the evening upon visiting a gem museum to learn about the Gem industry in Sri Lanka.

Day 7: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast, you will leave for Nuwara Eliya.

Along the way, you will be able see Ramboda falls and have the opportunity to visit a Tea plantation and a Tea factory. The stunning drive to Nuwara Eliya is a photographer’s paradise. Pause every now and again to admire the waterfalls, tea estates and the vegetable fields along the way. Once you arrive in Nuwara Eliya, you will notice the sudden drop in temperature. Check in to the hotel where you will be spending the next two nights. Spend rest of the day at leisure.

Day 8: Nuwara Eliya

Proceed on a city tour in Nuwara Eliya.

With log fires and blankets in the Victorian-style bungalows and the beautifully kept lawns and flower gardens, it is no wonder this part of the country has become known as ‘Little England’. Wander through the fruit and vegetable markets and strike a bargain at the night ‘bale’ market to understand the local community on this part of the world.

Day 9: Nuwara Eliya – Tissamaharama (near Yala)

Today, afterbreakfast at the hotel, you will check out and proceed to Yala.

You will passing Ella and will be able to have mesmerizing views.

Enjoy an afternoon safari in the Yala national park. Yala National Park covers 126,786 hectares including the Strict Natural Reserve (Block II). The most familiar is Block I (14,101 hectares) and this were established in 1938.

Yala is famous for its big herds and large number of Elephants, Leopards, Spotted Deer, Sambhur, Crocodiles, Mongoose, Wild Boar, Wild Buffalo, and many other animals. More than 130 bird species are recorded which includes the resident and winter visitors. Spend the rest of the day at leisure enjoying the hotel.

Day 11: Hikkaduwa

Breakfast at the hotel. you will proceed on the sightseeing tour in Hikkaduwa and you can spend the time on the beach.

Hikkaduwa is the most popular of the beach centers in the southwestern coast of Sri Lanka. Hikkaduwa is blessed with natural attractions of wide and sun kissed beaches, magnificent coral gardens populated with turtles and exotic fish where best snorkeling and scuba diving facilities, glass bottom boat rides and offering the best to the water sports lovers.

Day 10: Tissamaharama (near Yala)– Galle – Hikkaduwa

Breakfast at the hotel. Check out and leave for Galle.

The South Coast’s major city is Galle, whose oldest landmark is the massive Portuguese and Dutch Fort which is a “World Heritage Site” in which the central city is contained. But the city may be much older. Some scholars believe it to be the “Tarshish” of the Old Testament, to which King Solomon sent his merchant vessels, and to which Jonah fled from the Lord. Today, the 90-acre Galle Fort shows no evidence of the Portuguese founders. The Dutch incorporated the Portuguese northern wall in a great rampart in 1663. A second, taller wall was built inside of it. Between the two walls, a covered passage connected the central bastion with the Fort’s two half bastions overlooking the sea. The Dutch also installed a sophisticated drainage system, complete with brick-lined underground sewers that were flushed twice a day by the high and low tides. The original gate to the fort was by the harbour. It is still there, marked by the British Coat-of-arms on the front and the Dutch V.O.C. (Vereenigde Oost Indische Compagnie) with the Coat-of-arms with a rooster crest, on the inner side of the Fort.

Day 12: Hikkaduwa – Bentota – Hikkaduwa

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will visit Bentota and Balapitiya sites.

Bentota is famous for it’s prime beaches Bentota is today one of Sri Lanka’s most sought after tourist destinations. The town of Bentota actually, sits on an estuary, where the river and the sea meet.

Natural Sri Lankan moonstones are very famous all over the world and there are mines in Ambalangoda, you can visit one of the mines to get to know this industry. Traditional masks are an icon of the Sri Lankan culture and the famous mask museum is also located in Ambalangoda that you visit today.

You will be able to visit a turtle hatchery where you can see turtles and you can enjoy a boat safari of the river Madu.
