Day 1: Airport – Kandy

On arrival after the immigration process and claiming your luggage, our representative along with the designated chauffeur guide will take you through to the exit and will escort you to your vehicle, where you will be transferred to Kandy.

You will be able to visit a spice garden to learn about Sri Lankan Species & Herbs.
Arrive at the hotel and relax.

Day 2: Kandy

After breakfast, you will proceed on your sightseeing tour in Kandy.

Royal botanical gardens of Peradeniya is 147 acres in extent; Started in 1374 as a pleasure garden of the Kings of Gampola and Kandy. There are more than 4,000 species of trees, plants and creepers. Some rare and endemic as well as flora from the tropical world are found in the gardens. Spice Garden and Orchid House are popular with tourists. There are 5 Palm Avenues beautifying the gardens, the earliest and tallest Palm Avenue (Royal Palm Avenue) was planted in 1905 and the Double Coconuts from the Seashells Island, with the largest seed of all plants in the world is one such avenue.

Return to Kandy to visit the temple of the tooth relic and enjoy a brief tour of the beautiful Kandy town. Unconquered for centuries, this capital city held the Sinhalese culture and sacred Buddhist Relics safe against the unsuccessful onslaught of Dutch and Portuguese invasions, before finally falling to British political tricks at the beginning of the nineteenth century. Amongst other fascinating sights, Kandy is the home of The Temple of the Tooth Relic, one of the most sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world.

Witness the traditional cultural dance show starting at 1700hrs in the evening upon visiting a gem museum to be familiar with Gem industry in Sri Lanka.

On completion, return to the hotel.

Day 4: Ella

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will be able to visit sites in Ella including Mini Adam’s peak in Ella and you can have a great experience of the longest Zip line in Sri Lanka, you can also enjoy riding an ATV (a valid driver’s license is required), you can do mountain biking and abseiling as well.

Travelling by scooter is a very popular means of transportation in Ella and we will provide you with a scooter with fuel (full tank) for your usage on this day in Ella and you can explore places in Ella on your own (a valid driver’s license is required).

*The chauffeur guide and the vehicle will also be available.

In the evening, you are able to have a walk around Ella to witness and get the vibe of the night life
there and you can have a beer, cocktails, wines and other beverages at a café. If you would prefer, you could have your dinner at an outside restaurant (Western and Asian menus are available as per your preference).

Day 5: Ella – Haputale - Poonagala - Ella

After breakfast, you are going to visit Haputale and the sites are close to Haputale. You will leave Ella early as you hope to reach Lipton’s seat before it gets misty and cloudy.

Haputale is a town of Badulla District in the Uva Province, Sri Lanka, governed by an Urban Council.
The elevation is 1431 m above the sea level. The area has a rich bio-diversity dense with numerous
varieties of flora and fauna. Haputale is surrounded by hills covered with cloud forests and tea plantations, you will be able to see mesmerizing views from Haputale. After you will head over to Lipton’s Seat view point in Haputale.

The Scottish tea baron Sir Thomas Lipton used to survey his burgeoning empire from here. Lipton’s
Seat is a panoramic overlooking destination in Sri Lanka. Handapanagala lake, Chandrika Lake, Uda
walwe lake, Wedi hiti Kanda mountains, and also the hambanthota harbor alocated in the in the southern coastal area and five provinces in Sri Lanka can be seen remarkably. After visiting Lipton’s Seat, you will head over to Upper Diyaluma Waterfall.

You will reach a local tea-village which is called Poonagala through tea-villages and beautiful tea
plantations to start the hike to Upper Diyaluma Waterfall. Once you reach the top of the water fall
after a 30-minute hike, you are going to be amazed by the views and it is time for you to have a
swim in a natural pool there (this is subject to the water level). Before leaving the waterfall, you
can witness a mesmerizing sunset as well.

Later you will head back to the hotel.

Day 6: Ella – Arugam bay

Breakfast at the hotel and check out the hotel to leave for Arugam bay which is famous for one of the best beaches for surfing in the world.

You will spot some wild elephants on the way to Arugam bay. You can also notice the geographical differences as you are reaching the east coast of Sri Lanka. Arrive at the hotel and check in the hotel. Arugam bay is also famous for partying and the night life, there are many good cafes and restaurants that you can go have a beer, cocktails, wines and other beverages with live music.

These places are mainly located on the main street.

Day 7: Arugam bay – Pottuvil - Arugam bay

Breakfast at the hotel and today you will visit Pottuvil.

Pottuvil lagoon is only 4 kilometers away from Arugam Bay is a coastal lagoon thriving with a variety of wildlife. The Pottuvil Lagoon is roughly 200 acres in size with mangrove forests surrounding its perimeter and a tiny island in its centre. The Pottuvil Lagoon Eco Tour is a two hourcruise on board a canoe. Even the mode of transport used encourages the Eco-friendly vibe bymaking use of a wooden pallet that is tied on to two canoes on each side. The Eco tour of the diminishing but crucial mangrove forest was initiated to help conserve it and raise funds to support the local fishermen along with aiding the planting of more mangrove trees. While cruising through the serene waters you will find peace in the way the water mirrors the clear blue sky that is occasionally painted with white clouds. The swamp banks and the water nearing the banks are lush with green trees and wild grass. The music that will keep you entertained throughout the tour is the chirping of the birds, the rustling of leaves as monkeys pass through, the occasional trumpet of an elephant and the rhythmic sound of the fisherman’s oar steering you through the water. If you are lucky enough, you might spot a crocodile resting or a few elephants (who are not human-friendly) rambling about. Water buffaloes will be grazing in the water while the long-legged stilts will be hoarded throughout the patches of dense grass flourishing in the water. Your mind will be energized by the purity of the scene and the serenity you will experience throughout the tour.

This lagoon tour takes 2.5 to 3 hours and an experienced guide will guide the tour. Transfer back to Arugm Bay and if you are into go surfing, you can rent a surfing board and if you want to have some surfing lessons that can also be arranged.

*The best time to surf Arugam Bay is May to September. The best waves arrive in July, August, and September.

One of other interesting places to visit in Arugam bay is the Hippi market. You can also go to an Ayurvedic spa in the evening at the end of the day.

Day 8: Arugam bay– Tissamaharama (near Yala)

Today, after breakfast at the hotel, you will check out and leave for Yala.

Enjoy an afternoon safari in the Yala national park. Yala National Park covers 126,786 hectares including the Strict Natural Reserve (Block II). The most familiar is Block I (14,101 hectares) and this were established in 1938.

Yala is famous for its big herds and large number of Elephants, Leopards, Spotted Deer, Sambhur, Crocodiles, Mongoose, Wild Boar, Wild Buffalo, and many other animals. More than 130 bird species are recorded which includes the resident and winter visitors.

Spend the rest of the day at leisure enjoying the hotel.

Day 10: Tissamaharama (near Yala) – Galle – Koggala

Breakfast at the hotel. Check out and leave for Galle.

The South Coast’s major city is Galle, whose oldest landmark is the massive Portuguese and Dutch Fort which is a “World Heritage Site” in which the central city is contained. But the city may be much older. Some scholars believe it to be the “Tarshish” of the Old Testament, to which King Solomon sent his merchant vessels, and to which Jonah fled from the Lord. Today, the 90-acre Galle Fort shows no evidence of the Portuguese founders. The Dutch incorporated the Portuguese northern wall in a great rampart in 1663. A second, taller wall was built inside of it. Between the two walls, a covered passage connected the central bastion with the Fort’s two half bastions overlooking the sea.

The Dutch also installed a sophisticated drainage system, complete with brick-lined underground sewers that were flushed twice a day by the high and low tides. The original gate to the fort was by the harbour. It is still there, marked by the British Coat-of-arms on the front and the Dutch V.O.C. (Vereenigde Oost Indische Compagnie) with the Coat-of-arms with a rooster crest, on the inner side of the Fort.
