Have a valid tourist visa 

Have a valid tourist visa in the form of ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization).

Citizens of The Republic of Singapore, The Republic of Maldives, The Republic of Seychelles and The Czech Republic are exempt from the requirement of obtaining ETA to visit Sri Lanka.

A visa fee waiver scheme has been introduced for citizens of China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Japan. Those nationals should apply for ETA before arriving in Sri Lanka, which will be granted/issued free of charge. Under this scheme tourists can enjoy a 30 days free visa period and a double entry facility is permitted from the date of first arrival to Sri Lanka within 30 days. Applicants who have obtained a free visa and need to stay in Sri Lanka for more than 30 days can apply for an extension by paying the appropriate visa fee.

Nationals of Taiwan would need to select People's Republic of China (Special Administrative Region of China) as their nationality while applying for the ETA.

Nationals of Kosovo are eligible for Visa On Arrival only.

Visitors from Afghanistan, Syria, Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, North Korea, and Myanmar who intend to apply for ETA may apply through Sri Lankan sponsor for their ETA from the Head office of the Department of Immigration & Emigration, Sri Lanka.

Children under 16 years of age possessing separate passport(s) should submit individual application(s).

 

Children under 12 years of age possessing separate passport(s) should submit individual application(s) & exempted from ETA visa processing fees.

SAARC countries - Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The requirements for visa 

  • Valid passport (with at least six months validity from the date of entry into Sri Lanka).

  • Flight Ticket / Airline Name & Flight Number.

  • Valid Mastercard (recommended) / VISA/Amex debit or credit card.

  • Address in Sri Lanka.

NOTE

  • Please enter the details correctly as mentioned in your passport.

  • After applying for the ETA visa online, you first get the acknowledgment email with the ETA reference number, and then you receive the ETA approval notice via email.

Fill out the arrival card

The arrival cards that are necessary to enter Sri Lanka can now be filled online. The air passengers have been facilitated to fill this card online three days prior to their travel.

COVID-19 Travel Requirements

The requirement to produce COVID-19 vaccination certificate by any person arriving to Sri Lanka via any airport or sea port is removed.

 

The requirement to produce a pre boarding or on arrival negative COVID-19 test (PCR/RAT) by any person arriving to Sri Lanka via any airport or sea port is removed.

Travel Insurance: Consider purchasing travel insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances during your trip, such as medical emergencies. While not mandatory, it is highly recommended for your peace of mind. We recommend all guests purchase travel insurance that includes Covid-19 cancellation cover. If you need to cancel for Covid-19, or any other reason, we will be happy to provide you with documentation to support your insurance claim.

On - Arrival

Please make sure to have the following ready while traveling to Sri Lanka,

  • A printed copy of your ETA approval notice issued by the Sri Lanka Department of Immigration and Emigration. On-arrival visa is also available.

  • Your passport with at least six months validity from the date of entry into Sri Lanka.

  • A return ticket or proof of onward travel from Sri Lanka.

  • Sufficient funds to meet the expenses in Sri Lanka.

  • Verifiable evidence of COVID-19 vaccination in English (recommended).
