12 August 2024 - The Department of Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka has informed that the online visa portal (www.srilankaevisa.lk) has been deactivated with immediate effect and until further notice.

Have a valid tourist visa 

Have a valid tourist visa in the form of eVisa/ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization).

Citizens of The Republic of Singapore, The Republic of Maldives, The Republic of Seychelles and The Czech Republic are exempt from the requirement of obtaining eVisa/ETA to visit Sri Lanka.

A visa fees waiver scheme has been introduced for citizens of India, China, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Australia, Denmark, Poland, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Nepal, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, France, the US, Canada, Czech Republic, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Israel, Belarus, Iran, Sweden, South Korea, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and New Zealand.

Nationals of Taiwan would need to select People's Republic of China (Special Administrative Region of China) as their nationality while applying for the eVisa/ETA.

Nationals of Kosovo are eligible for Visa On Arrival only.

On-arrival visas are not available for nationals of certain countries, namely Afghanistan, Syria, Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, North Korea, and Myanmar. Their nationals can apply for visas from the Head Office of the Department of Immigration & Emigration through a representative.

SAARC countries - Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The requirements for visa 

  • Passport Bio page (with at least six months validity from the date of entry into Sri Lanka).

  • Passport size colored photo.

  • Flight Ticket / Airline Name & Flight Number.

  • Valid Mastercard (recommended) / VISA/Amex debit or credit card.

  • Address in Sri Lanka.

The arrival cards that are necessary to enter Sri Lanka can now be filled online. The air passengers have been facilitated to fill this card online three days prior to their travel.

COVID-19 Travel Requirements

The requirement to produce COVID-19 vaccination certificate by any person arriving to Sri Lanka via any airport or sea port is removed.

 

The requirement to produce a pre boarding or on arrival negative COVID-19 test (PCR/RAT) by any person arriving to Sri Lanka via any airport or sea port is removed.

Travel Insurance: Consider purchasing travel insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances during your trip, such as medical emergencies. While not mandatory, it is highly recommended for your peace of mind. We recommend all guests purchase travel insurance that includes Covid-19 cancellation cover. If you need to cancel for Covid-19, or any other reason, we will be happy to provide you with documentation to support your insurance claim.

On - Arrival

Please make sure to have the following ready while traveling to Sri Lanka,

  • A printed copy of your eVisa approval letter/ETA approval notice issued by the Sri Lanka Department of Immigration and Emigration. On-arrival visa is also available.

  • Your passport with at least six months validity from the date of entry into Sri Lanka.

  • A return ticket or proof of onward travel from Sri Lanka.

  • Sufficient funds to meet the expenses in Sri Lanka.

  • Verifiable evidence of COVID-19 vaccination in English (recommended).
