Day 1: Airport - Sigiriya

Meeting and assistance upon your arrival at BIA and travel to Sigiriya. Check in the Sigiriya hotel and relax. Later visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress, Climb the 5th century Sigiriya Rock Fortress which is a UNESCO world heritage site, built by King Kashyapa (477-495). The spectacular citadel of Sigiriya rises sheer and impregnable out of the plains of the dry zone. It is the country’s most memorable single attraction, a remarkable archaeological site made unforgettable by its dramatic setting. The rock was the innermost stronghold of a 70-hectare fortified town. A moat, rampart and extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock. Visit the world-renowned frescoes of the 'Heavenly Maidens' of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway.

Day 2: Sigiriya – Hiriwadunna – Habarana - Sigiriya

Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, you will proceed to the Hiriwadunna to immerse in a local village experience. You can experience a real village walk through the rustic rural community of Habarana. It’s not just a walk only but an authentic encounter with the local village folk; experiencing their lifestyles, their culture, and their hospitality. By authentic we mean it’s a true village scenario, not one set up as a tourist attraction. During this village tour, you can experience some of the oldest humankind activities that include a bullock cart ride and a catamaran boat ride & a visit to a farmer’s house where they will demonstrate how their lifestyle. You will be able to have an authentic Sri Lankan lunch there. In the afternoon, you will experience a jeep safari in Hurulu Eco Park or Minneriya National Park. You will be able to spot wild elephants there.

Day 3: Sigiriya – Dambulla - Kandy

After breakfast, check out the hotel and visit Dambulla Cave Temple, Dambulla is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160 m over the surrounding plains. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area. Major attractions are spread over five caves, which contain statues and paintings. These paintings and statues are related to Gautama Buddha and his life. There are a total of 153 Buddha statues, three statues of Sri Lankan kings and four statues of gods and goddesses. The latter include Vishnu and the Ganesha. Visit a spice garden on the way to Kandy to get to know about the Sri Lankan herbs & spices. You will be able to witness the Kandyan cultural show in the evening which has a spectacular firewalking finale. Visit some sites in Kandy including, the temple of the Tooth Relic and the view point in Kandy.

Day 4: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast, you will check out and you can visit Peradeniya Botanical Garden. Kandy is also famous for shopping and you will have the opportunity of browsing to your heart’s content. Later you will head over to Nuwara Eliya and en route stopover to visit Bhakta Hanuman Temple and Ramboda Falls. Moving further also visit the Dambro Tea Processing factory and get indulged in the essence of world-famous Ceylon Tea. Enjoy sightseeing in Nuwara Eliya. Nuwara Eliya meaning "the city of dawn" is the town at the highest elevation (about 2000m above sea level) in Sri Lanka and its tallest peak, Piduruthalagala (2555m) could be seen from here. The city established by the British in the nineteenth century, and known as "Little England" and is a popular holiday resort for Sri Lankans & tourists due to its cool climate and quaint colonial feel with its little bungalows surrounded by hedgerows. Later visit Gregory Lake, one can enjoy some water sports here. Spend your evening visiting Victoria Park and nearby alleys. Dinner & overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 7: Tissamaharama – Yala -Tissamaharama

You will leave the hotel early in the morning with a packed breakfast to enjoy a morning safari in Yala national park. Yala National Park covers 126,786 hectares including the Strict Natural Reserve (Block II). The most familiar is Block I (14,101 hectares) and this were established in 1938. Yala is famous for leopards, wild elephants, spotted deers, sambar deers, crocodiles, mongooses, wild boars, wild buffaloes and many other animals. More than 130 bird species are recorded which includes the resident and winter visitors. Come back and leisure at the hotel.

Day 8: Tissamaharama - Galle - Beruwala

Breakfast at the hotel. Check out and leave for Galle. Visit sites in Galle. The South Coast’s major city is Galle, whose oldest landmark is the massive Portuguese and Dutch Fort which is a “World Heritage Site” in which the central city is contained. But the city may be much older. Some scholars believe it to be the “Tarshish” of the Old Testament, to which King Solomon sent his merchant vessels, and to which Jonah fled from the Lord. Today, the 90-acre Galle Fort shows no evidence of the Portuguese founders. The Dutch incorporated the Portuguese northern wall in a great rampart in 1663. A second, taller wall was built inside of it. Between the two walls, a covered passage connected the central bastion with the Fort’s two half bastions overlooking the sea. The Dutch also installed a sophisticated drainage system, complete with brick-lined underground sewers that were flushed twice a day by the high and low tides. The original gate to the fort was by the harbor. It is still there, marked by the British Coat-of-arms on the front and the Dutch V.O.C. (Vereenigde Oost Indische Compagnie) with the Coat-of- arms with a rooster crest, on the inner side of the Fort.

Day 9: Beruwala – Ambalangoda - Beruwala

After breakfast, you will enjoy a boat safari on the Madu River. Then you will arrive in Ambalangoda. Natural Sri Lankan moonstones are very famous all over the world and there are mines in Meetiyagoda which are close to Ambalangoda, you can visit one of the mines to get to know this industry. Traditional masks are an icon of the Sri Lankan culture and a famous mask museum is also located in Ambalangoda that you visit today. You will be able to visit a turtle hatchery where you can see sea turtles. Dinner & overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 10: Beruwala - Airport

After breakfast, check out and drive to Colombo. Enjoy a city tour of Colombo which is the largest city and former administrative capital of Sri Lanka and is a busy and vibrant city with a mixture of modern life and remnants of a bygone colonial era. Due to its large harbor and its strategic position along the East-West Sea trade routes, Colombo was known to ancient traders 2,000 years ago. However, it was only made the Capital of the island when Sri Lanka was ceded to the British Empire in 1815. The main city is home to a majority of the Sri Lanka’s corporate offices, restaurants and entertainment venues. On this tour you will visit many of the historical, religious and commercial sites of Colombo.
